Bread Company features a unique façade design comprising of aluminum panels and window wall cladding spanning a height of 20 stories. The building also includes amenities including a fitness centre, a party room, a co-working space, a conference centre, an entrainment room and an outdoor terrace.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
Bread Company is located directly beneath the emergency helicopter flight path for the Sick Kids Hospital. This, as well as the proximity of adjacent buildings introduced many unconventional constraints with regard to the specification and placement of the tower crane. Our team worked with our formwork partners to develop a solution where a luffing style crane was installed to build the lower portion of the structure and then replaced with a flat-top hammerhead style crane after the 12th Floor was completed, in order to avoid projection of the crane boom into the flight path.
